PAT CASEY WINS THE FIRST EVENT OF 2012

18 year old Vans Pro Pat Casey from Southern California just got back from Indiana where he competed in "The Kitchen" park contest.

Pat, congrats on The Kitchen win, is this your first big pro win? Pretty sure you won FISE 2011 right?
No my first big pro win was The Toronto Jam last year. But yes FISE (In France) 2011 as well.

Was it cold out in the mid west at this time of year?
It was SO cold! Basically if I wasn't always riding I was shivering, even inside that's how cold it was. Lol

You were obviously riding good to take the win, what move do you think put you in the lead?
Thanks, I think that I used almost all the course. Some of the tricks that I think set me ahead was a truck to whip over the spine and a dipped 3 doublewhip also a 3 whip catch whip.

What's next for you?
Next is FISE in Costa Rica. I'm pretty exited about it especially since I've never been there.

Vans BMX riders seem to be grabbing cover shots all over the place these days. Last month it was Gary Young on the cover of Ride BMX Magazine and Dan Foley on the cover of Soul, and this month it's Pat Casey with a huge flair tailwhip on the cover of BMX Plus Magazine. Pat has been stomping it at X Games and Dew Tour this summer so it's fair to say he had a cover coming his way pretty soon and since he can flair tailwhip just about anything he blasted this one out at the Mission Valley Skatepark in San Diego. Pat also had a sweet video part in the Yawn DVD if you want to stuff your stocking with a rad vid this Christmas. Yeewwww!

Mackay in Israel

I just got back from a week in Israel! I went for Haro Bikes with Ryan Nyquist and Allan Cooke to do a few demo's at a trade show in Tel Aviv.

The Haro distributor there took us to the holiest city in the world Jerusalem and to the Dead Sea which was pretty insane. For one it's the lowest place on earth, 1,300 feet below sea level and two is that the water level has 40% salt content and when you go out in the water you float. Really weird.

The shows were good we actually did ten over three days but the crowds were great and were very grateful for us to come to them, most of the people commented saying they had only seen this stuff on TV.

Israel was a great time, the food was good, the people friendly and the weather was spot on. I wouldn't hesitate to go back one day.

How old were you when you first got into video cameras?
Got stoked on filming and editing when I first started riding when I was 13. It's fun to film your homies and vise versa. The footage is rad to look back on and motivates you to progress and have more fun on and off the BMX.

Do you remember your first video camera?
Yeah it was a piece of crap Sony trv-10 or something

Why did you decide to capture the life and times of your crew?
Keep the motivation going and the memories documented.

Is it a money maker to put out a DVD?
All of my sponsors chipped in some for travel to help me get the
projects moving. That helped a lot but there is no money to be made
when the video ends up online a few days after it goes on sale.
Whatever though!!!

Whats your take on web vids dropping like video parts in 2011?
Good and bad. It's making riding progress really fast but the progressive riding gets forgotten really fast as well. I'm stoked people are still putting the effort in to make dope DVD's!

Vans BMX Riders Make Waves at Dew Tour Finals

What could be considered one of the craziest contests in BMX history, Vans riders left their mark on Dew Tour history this weekend at the finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Park phenom Scotty Cranmer pulled his dream-run and overtook Vans rookie pro Kyle Baldock for the contest and Dew Cup win with long list of futuristic tricks. Cranmer has several X Games Gold Medals, but has never clinched a Dew Cup Title- until now. He was also awarded the Powerbar Performance of the Year for his corked 720 and backflip double whip down the step-down.

Kyle Baldock had a whirlwind of a year himself. The 20-year old from the Gold Coast of Australia was awarded Ballpark Rookie of The Year for being the highest ranking rookie in the BMX series for his accomplishments in Park and BMX Dirt. Speaking of Dirt, Kyle won the Dirt Finals hands down but missed out on the Dirt Dew Cup by only a few points. It's only the beginning for Baldock who also claimed The Pro-Tec Best Trick Award from his video clips in The Hunt BMX project seen for the first time on Thursday night.

VANS Let it Ride - fueled by Monster Energy

Coming back for the 3rd season in a row the adventure continues with 12 riders spread across two teams traveling to the very south of Spain - the Canary Islands.

Tenerife and Grand Canary, the two main islands will be the playgrounds where both teams are set to explore the terrain, lifestyle and culture of what the islands have to offer.

Each team will be staying in a Vans Team house and be given nothing but their bikes and a van to find the best spots around. After 4 days, the teams switch islands, house keys and van keys - handing over their spots to the other crew giving each a chance to sessions the spots equally.

Two filmers and photographers will join the trip to capture all the adventures both, on and off the bikes and the last day will see both teams getting together for a final party to exchange their stories.

Dates: 4th November - 13th November

This afternoon under the very hot Las Vegas sun, the Vans BMX team competed in the preliminary round of BMX Dirt at the Dew Tour 2011 final stop.

Aussie rookie pro Kyle Baldock is having a year he could only dream of, and today he qualified first 3 points ahead of 2nd place! His run was so tech and smooth, the judges had to hook him up. Flip Bar-spin first set, to whip catch whip 2nd set, front flip Baldock style the long and low, and 360 double down whip the last set was his run.

Vans team veterans Gary Young, Luke Parslow and Cory Nastazio also made the top 9 to ride Saturday evenings final.

Look for it on TV on NBC it should be a great final!

Baldock and Cranmer In the Chase for Dew Cup

Vans BMX riders Scotty Cranmer and Kyle Baldock are in the chase for the 2011 Dew Cup which comes to a head in Las Vegas Nevada this weekend. Cranmer has a chance to claim the cup in BMX Park and Baldock is up for both Park and Dirt. It should be a crazy week with the rest of the Vans riders at the Hard Rock Hotel. Gary Young did really well to get in the finals and rode really well tonight. Switching 3's back and forth all the way down. Gary looked like he was enjoying himself. Gary finished 9th.

Cam White through some good runs, in his 2nd run he went for a superman seat grab flip on the first set, something he hasn't done before! Cam had a rough 2010 and has now made both finals and is getting back to form. Tonight Cam finished 10th.

The talk of 2011 Kyle Baldock was tipped to win tonight in SLC, but after messing up 2 runs of 3 he finished in 11th! Kyle said Dirt is just a bonus for him and he didn't expect to be doing so well, but he fits right in and is a major threat to any event he enters. 2 of Kyles runs included Double Back Flips first set, but he couldn't keep it flowing to be able to trick the next jump. Tonight was the first time Kyle has had some pressure and he took it well. His riding is just on a very high level and it's hard to pull it all off on demand. The kid has a bright future for sure.

Jaie Toohey looks right at home on BMX Dirt. He is a pleasure to watch and is a favorite among his peers. He boosts airs, cranks variations and has a unique style that almost got him on the podium tonight. Jaie finished 4th.

After the contest, The Dew Tour put $5,000 on the line for best trick. Jaie and Kyle participated in the event and put on quite a show. Jaie pulled his first ever Backflip Triple Tailwhip! And Kyle laid out a bunch of moves but the one that took the cash was a new one, a 360 Downside Whip to Double Whip back!

Congrats to the Vans team for a great event. The final Dew Tour is in Las Vegas October 13-16. Get there if you can!

Vans Riders in Dirt Finals tonight in SLC

Saturday night under lights in Salt Lake City, UT Vans BMX team riders Cam White, Gary Young, Jaie Toohey and Kyle Baldock are all set to ride in the finals for Dew Tour Dirt stop 2.

Prelims was a tough one with TJ Ellis, Nasty, Guettler and Luke Parslow all regular finalists missing the cut.

TransWorld Ride BMX will host its prestigious NORA Cup Awards show for the 15th year honoring BMX's number one riders in seven various categories. The show will be returning to The Pearl Theater at The Palms in Las Vegas on Thursday, September 15, with doors opening at 8:00 P.M. There will be special seating for general admission, and it will be free and open to all ages.

This year's show is hosted by TJ Lavin, pro BMX rider and X Games gold medalist, musician, and reality T.V. host of MTV's The Challenge. Scotty Wins Park at Dew Stop #2

Well what began as a great prelims day for Vans BMX Pro Scotty Cranmer, continued to finals day were he wrapped up victory and stood high on the podium at Dew Tour stop 2 in Portland, Oregon.

Scotty was tied with Kyle Baldock (Vans Flow) after first runs, and then Scotty upped his first run with a wild flip double whip over the sub rail on the buzzer.

Kyle gave it his all but couldn't get it together at the end and it was all over. I believe Scotty hasn't won a Dew stop since 2007! It's been a long time coming around that's for sure. Scotty's on fire in 2011 and I could easily predict another win before the years out.

Vans team mate Gary Young rode with a small knee injury but squeaked into the finals, and managed 9th place once he was there. Ryan Guettler did very well to break through the Open Qualifier and into Prelims then earned a spot in the finals. It just wasn't Gute's day though and he ended up 12th. Great to see Ryan with some confidence though after missing most of last years events with double shoulder surgery.

Kyle Baldock sits in first for over all points, but Scotty is just 18 points behind with the 3rd and final park stop earning points and a half! That all goes down Oct 13-16 in Las Vegas.

Today it was Scotty Cranmer's day in Portland, Oregon at Dew Tour Park. It was obvious after his first run that he was going to be tough to beat. It was one of those runs that just came together wonderfully right to the 45 second buzzer.

The bad news is that it was prelims and hopefully he can pull it again tomorrow!

Park finals begins at 7pm pacific (Saturday) and Scotty joins Vans team mates Ryan Guettler and Gary Young who pulled through on his last run in prelims to squeak in there in 9th! Good job boys it was a great show today. Awesome to see Guettler hold it together and make the finals. Has anyone ever done a front-flip over a hip? Guettler did one today, look for another tomorrow.

Vans flow and Stop 1 winner, Australian Kyle Baldock will be also competing. Kyle got to watch prelims today and got a ticket straight into the finals as a bonus for winning stop 1.

Should be a good one, look for it live on NBC.

HB Local Dakota Roche is probably going nuts right now having won a Bronze Medal in X Games BMX Street this afternoon. After taking a really gnarly crash that would have crushed most people's ribs, Dak went on to ride harder and smash some big 540s and 360 railhops like nothing happened. Check the video on Monday for his crash, it's burly. Ty Morrow was in the mix as well, hopping big wallrides over the railhop and a monster tuck no-hander off the roof.
Harrington and Sexton put down some heavy moves in qualifying, but it was Dak and Ty who snuck into finals for 3rd and 4th place among the heaviest hitters in the game.

The tight concrete park course was challenging for everyone, but the guys who shred concrete on the daily stood out from the crowd. The Vans Vert team Dennis Mccoy, Coco Zurita and Simon Tabron all made the finals at Dew stop 1 in Ocean city, MD.

The finals were supposed to live on NBC, but with rain delays, the boys didn't ride until 8pm last night!

Simon got on the podium in 3rd (.14 away from 2nd!), Coco in 6th and Dennis finished 10th.

Vans Flow Rider Wins Dew Tour

Australian Kyle Baldock won it all at Dew Tour stop 1 in Ocean City, M.D.

Kyle took the longest road to do this by winning open qualifier, he won prelims, and wrapped up final today to make it a weekend he will never forget.

Kyle rides with Ryan Guettler everyday in Greenville, N.C. Kyle was even wearing green and black Whip 3's today!

This is Kyle's second year in the U.S.A and I'm pretty sure you will be hearing more from him in the future!

Vans Pro's Scotty Cranmer came in 5th, Gary Young 6th and England's Mark Webb finished 9th.

The Vans BMX team are in Ocean City, M.D for Dew Tour stop 1.

Here's Gary Young's first trick that helped get him in the finals. Gary started at the far side of the course, pedaled his heart out out and pulled this huge gap to curved wall ride. He kept the speed he gained from this and flowed the whole course spinning left and right. It was beautiful to watch.

Scotty Cranmer also was on fire, this triple tail whip was clean as ever. Scotty combined a great mix of big moves including a truck driver to x-up drop in from the giant step down, and Ice pick to turn-down on top of the 10ft wall ride.

The finals are on today from 3:30pm eastern. Cheer the boys on!

Luke plugged in the giant lights the the shredding on his newly designed trails started immediately. Pat Casey Wins FISE PARK with FLIP DECADE

Orange County Vans rider Pat Casey destroyed the FISE Park contest this weekend in the south of France. Despite having his gear, phone and wallet ripped off Pat threw down a never-before-seen back-flip decade and won the whole shebang not to mention a 3rd place in dirt at one of the gnarliest European contests of the year. Fellow Vans Euro rider Mark Webb also destroyed the mini ramp comp with a win against some of Dew Tour's finest.
